SAP serves as the central anchor for the materials management of the machine builder, which manufactures a wide variety of products. The number of available materials alone runs into the tens of thousands. Mobile software from Ontego helps employees in production to always have the right material on hand. Goods receipts and production order confirmations (FAUF) are conveniently handled with the mobile device, eliminating the need for manual data re-entry as the data lands directly in SAP ME.
The Kanban process was also mapped for mobile use, for which the corresponding SAP BAPIs are called in the Ontego standard. Thanks to templates, the implementation was both efficient and secure.
Modern Mobile Maintenance, Implemented In-House
The managers at GROB wanted even more: they developed a second mobile software solution themselves. The Ontego Designer played a crucial role in this effort. After a training session, the IT colleagues were able to create an application for their mobile maintenance processes on their own. The particularly clever feature here is the choice of end devices. Modern tablets are used, which are supported by Ontego just like standard commercial rugged industrial PDAs—all running on the very same software platform. Ontego thus empowers the dynamic and ambitious company to continue driving innovation, not only in intralogistics but in other areas as well.
